Pall Dia-Schumalith N Filter Elements Provide Premium High Temperature Gas Filtration in Corrosive Conditions
Pall Dia-Schumalith N Filter Elements provide superior long-life particulate separation of high temperature, chemically aggressive gases for integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) / pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) plants.
Traditional equipment is not always able to satisfy the industry’s demand for the most efficient, economical, safe, and energy-conserving gas solid separation processes. Pall’s ceramic and metallic elements provide high temperature gas filtration capabilities and last longer than competitive products. Systems are installed at coal gasification and methanol to olefins plants; liquid/liquid coalescers are used to remove oil from process water. Superior Dia-Schumalith N Filter Elements effectively filter solids in hot gas at elevated temperatures.
At the heart of the Pall premium Gas Solid Separation (GSS) system is a sintered porous metal or ceramic filter element. Pall’s inorganic filter medium is designed for surface filtration. It can withstand temperatures from 232 ̊C (450 ̊F) to 1000 ̊C (1832 ̊F) and pressures in excess of 1000 psid (69 bard) without altering filtration characteristics.
The Dia-Schumalith ceramic filter medium is constructed with silicon carbide/alumina and proprietary binder Mullite. Its typical outer diameter is 2.36/59.9 (in/mm)2. This element offers Pall’s highest temperature capability and fixed pore structures. The combination of the silicon carbide support body and alumina membrane in a Dia-Schumalith element guarantees a low differential pressure at high flux rates.
At temperatures >650 ̊C (1200 ̊F), Dia-Schumalith ceramic elements exhibit a wider range of corrosion resistance than many of their metallic counterparts. The Dia-Schumalith element is also capable of resisting chloride conditions. Individual Dia-Schumalith filter elements are typically mounted in a small tube sheet cluster. Many tube sheet clusters are then installed in a larger pressure vessel.
Pall’s Dia-Schumalith ceramic candle filters are suitable for applications requiring higher temperatures than elements made of sintered metal alloys can accommodate. Each element undergoes a nondestructive bubble point test before shipment to certify element integrity and efficiency rating.
